On Thursday, July 29th, at the Downtown Holiday Inn in Lincoln, beginning at 7:30pm, the MWNE board shall toast current titleholder, Joan Naber and acknowledge the efforts and abilities of all women who use wheelchairs.

Joan will share her adventures as MWNE 2010.  She was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Nebraska 2010 in April of 2010 and will be competing for the Ms. Wheelchair America 2011 title during the week of August 9, 2010 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  All proceeds from the “Toast” will be used to assist Joan in … Continue Reading

Volunteering at Relay for Life

My first stop was to the York County Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. On Saturday, June 12th, I was in York and volunteered that day to cook and serve a meal for the survivors, teams and anyone who came to help raise funds to support the American Cancer Society. WOW in North Platte ~ June 26, 2010

The fourth successful Women on Wheels workshop was held in North Platte on Saturday, June 26.  

Seven ladies were in attendance. These women traveled from Lincoln, York, Kearney, Curtis, North Platte, and McCook to attend. Our first speaker was from the League of Human Dignity. She spoke about the Medicaid waiver program. We learned about the various services that can be provided under the waiver and how a person can apply.

Ms. Wheelchair Nebraska, Inc. will be providing its fourth WOW (Women On Wheels) workshop on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Ramada in North Platte. Ms. Wheelchair Nebraska, Inc. received grant money from the Christopher Reeves Foundation last year and has been using those funds to implement the WOW workshops. “We are very excited to have the opportunity to expand the services we provide to women with mobility impairments. Our program now consists of two elements- recognition and education.” says Crystal Childers, State Coordinator.
